Eight libraries across five provinces, each one a room where children could read something of their own choosing.
How It Started
Two Rooms in Henan, Then Seven More
The first two libraries opened inside the Henan children’s centers in 2008, stocked with AIDS prevention and health education books alongside monthly children’s magazines.
In 2013, working with the Shanghai Sunrise Library, China AIDs Fund opened a library in Zhuhe, Sichuan — this time with fiction and non-fiction as well. Each library can host 200 to 300 children, and they are in use daily.
Between 2010 and 2018 the foundation furnished and financially supported seven libraries, in a joint venture with the Association of Chinese American Physicians, who visited Liangshan in June and July of 2017.
